sleep betrays me
I slept a couple hours.
Now I cannot sleep.
I am tired.
I am frustrated, anxious, sad, mad, annoyed.
No one asked me.
I am trying to get over it.
I feel ill.
Tomorrow is going to suck.
My tomorrow starts in about three hours.

Josiah's future wife?
In case you for some odd reason haven't heard...
I'm going to be an Aunt again!!!!
It's the first time I get to be an aunt to an infant. I'm super excited. I love my nephews, but there is just something about this one since it's my side of the family. My big brother is a daddy! Check it out!

Off to Kenya
Our friend, Ashby, is heading to Kenya. She will be gone for five weeks. Please visit her travel blog and pray for her journey. If all goes well, Visible Grace will be an NGO and she will have made a down payment on a piece of land, by the time she returns. This evening she picked up copies of my drawings and photos of the model I made. Hopefully, she will also have an estimate for phase one costs when she returns. Her plane leaves early tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. She will be missed. We are excited for her as she travels to the place where her heart resides.

He made my day...
and I just wanted to tell him and you.
I was on the phone with my husband yesterday. He called wanting some info about what photo training I had had. He had been chatting with a coworker of his who was admiring my photographic skills via his digital picture frame. It's seems a bit odd that Wes had asked this guy about cameras before I got my first one and now he is asking advice. Anyway...
I mentioned something about my new camera, that it was a family investment for photo documenting our family. Wes laughed and said that we already had plenty of camera for that via the d70. Then he said that the d300 was an investment in my professional photography. After we got off the phone, something occured to me.
He believes in me. That means the world to me.

math
This morning I did a little math for curiosity's sake. You see, I've had two, little, skinny babies and I've been curious as to how they really measure up to each other. So I did some calculations and found that when Josiah was just 6 months old, he weighed 9.17 ounces per inch. Adaya, as of her six month appointment, weighs 8.95 ounces per inch. So it turns out that Adaya actually has a lower height to weight ratio. Humm. Now why does it seem like Adaya has more pug and rolls than Josiah did? I think it's all in the head. Their heads actually. Josiah has a big noggin and Adaya's is very petite. Which means Josiah carried more weight in the head and Adaya on her thighs. So if they both were the same height, Adaya would need to gain a whopping 6 ounces to even out their weight to height ratios. Now I know, and so do you. :O)

Happy Birthday - part due
So Wes came home last night empty handed. We rounded up the kids and headed downtown to pro photo supply. We got there, they had closed a half hour earlier, at six. WHAT THE!?!?
We go to dinner at the Elephant Delicatessen.
We drive to another camera shop, they had just closed. Another, they also had just closed. HELLO!!! What are you thinking? It's my birthday and I want my new camera.
Wes went back to Pro Photo this morning after dropping Josiah off at preschool. Nikon started a new deal just this morning. $150 off the lens I've been eyeing, when purchased with a D300. SCORE! God must have wanted me to have that lens (OK, maybe not but does that really matter?). Wes bought it. So now I have my new D300 and the 70-300 VR Nikkor lens. I'm dancing on a cloud. And did you know that the D300 comes with Nikon Capture? O glorious day. My battery is charging. I can't wait to put it in and feel that new camera click.

Happy birthday to ME
So far today has been a good birthday.
My son made me a birthday necklace, three large drawings, and a few other amazing 4 yr old craft projects with paper, tape, yarn, and beans.
My friend Tiffany made me a cake from scratch. Even the frosting was home made.
My friend Rachel gave me beautiful flowers.
My friend Ashby made a card that she and my Bible study group (who are all my friends), signed.
My friend Brenda also gave me a birthday greeting.
My Bible study group all took me out to lunch, after Bible study, to Red Robin.
My husband has been to a couple photo shops today. I do believe he may come home with a D3... hundred.
Maybe I should turn 32 every year. :O)

baby communication
It is fascinating when babies begin to communicate in ways other then crying. Adaya is beginning to tell us things. A few days ago I was changing her and she began to slap her legs as hard as a baby can. I proceeded to rediaper her and she began to get upset. I snapped her back up and by this time she has become down right furious with me. She did this twice that night. Then she did it again this afternoon. I am fairly certain that the slapping is her best no water splashing and she is trying to tell me she wants to take a bath.

6 months
Today my little baby girl is six months old. Where has the time gone? It seems like she was just an ity bity 7lbs and 20 inches a few days ago. Now she has at least doubled her weight and grown almost 7 inches. She's so big. She can sit up on her own for a bit if you prop her up. She can roll onto her belly from her back (but refuses to roll front to back). She sleeps through the night or only wakes once. She is eating rice cereal, sweet potatoes, and carrots (tomorrow she will try peas). She plays with her toes while she gets her diaper changed. She'll dance if you stand her on her feet and give her and song and beat. She sees a toy she wants and gets excited. She sees mommy and will reach her arms out to be picked up. When she wants to nurse she says ma or me(short e). She gets mad when you take something away that she wants. She gets mad when I she runs out of sweet potatoes in her bowl and I try to give her more rice cereal. She is all about discovering new things, like Chompers and flowers.
She is amazing...

The love is gone...
Josiah used to love his little sister. Up until about an hour ago, that is. He wanted to give her a hug. She wanted to spit up on him. She nailed him in the eye. Gross. I went into the bathroom to make sure he got his eye cleaned up. He told Adaya to, "Go away." The love is gone...

Teeth!
Adaya now has two little teeth. She has been complaining about them for a long time. So I am glad they are in. She has been good to mommy thus far. I'd show them to you, but they are so small and so easy to cover with a little tongue. That makes them hard to photograph. :O)

Yummy, rice cereal
a matter of hours
Wes's grandmother has cancer and is slipping away quickly. We found out that she had cancer less than two weeks ago. Now they say it won't be long. We were fortunate to be able to spend a little time with her this past weekend. Watching her with Adaya was precious. The picture of her and Josiah is from July 2006.

Photo day
Today I took about 500 pictures. First, I took Adaya's 5 month shots. Later, I shot some friends. I just finished looking through them all. Wes and I had a good laugh over some of them. Here are a few of my favs (unedited)...

I should also mention that the point of the shoot with the girls was to get hair/makeup head shots for another friend's portfolio. So if anyone wants their hair or makeup done, ask me about our friend Colleen Baker. And yes, we did a few nice head shots for the portfolio (there are about 100 shots of each person), but sometimes it's the not so "nice" ones that become the favs.

110 days
A week ago, Sunday, I finished reading through my Bible. I started when Adaya was three weeks and my spinal headache had subsided enough to read. I read a lot of it out loud, which was challenging, at times. I read whenever Adaya was nursing. I've tried a few times to read through in a year, but have never succeeded. So the fact that I did so in less than 4 months, feels like I actually accomplished something usefull. It's interesting to read all of the scripture that compactly. I think it helped me look at it as a whole instead of verses and chapters and books. It helped bring the old and new testiments into a tighter relationship with one another. It brought to life some things that I maybe skimmed over in the past. I think it was a valuable thing to do. I don't know that I will ever read it again like that, that was a lot of reading. But now that I am done, it feels like I don't read my Bible enough. It's an odd feeling really.

75% off day
A pluthera of toys went on sale for 75% off today at Target. I spent about$45 on toys to take to NCO, $20 on each of our nephews (I am done Christmas shopping for them.), about $30 on Josiah (I am done b-day shopping for him.), and around $30 on Adaya for both near and not so near b-day and Christmas. Does anyone know any Thomas train fanatics besides Josiah? I couldn't pass on a couple of wooden train items at 75% off, even getting 50% off is huge for Thomas.

CARS
The other day Josiah announced that for his next birthday he wanted to have another Cars party. Mind you, his birthday is in October. He is crazy about that movie. Perhaps it is our fault. It was the first movie we took him to see, just before his 3rd birthday. And for his 3rd birthday, we had a Cars themed party. So I guess number five will be easy to plan. I may even have left over napkins and plates. Next Thurday I will be going to Target to shop for this next birthday. It is the day that I believe all the clearance toys will be marked down to 75%. I will be picking up:
1. A big "brand new Mater" for about $6.25
2. A big "Red" for $5
3. A race track/storage case for under $4
4. A large remote controlled construction vehicle for under $15
and for my nephews:
5. The Cars V-Flash cartrage
and
6. Whatever else seems like a good item for Josiah, his cousins, Adaya, a friends birthday, or to take to NCO.

a night off
Tonight I went to book club. I left before 6:30 and got home after 10:00. Adaya and Josiah both stayed home with Daddy. My boobs do thank you, Wesly. :O)
