Little green frog - Day 78

If you're tired and you squint, it looks like a little green frog. We had a break in the rain so I was playing with the raindrops. I decided to try to edit this one, but then I saw a little a frog. So I thought I'd share him with you.

Jr FIRST Lego League Expo - March 17

Waiting for our reviewer at Expo.  The kids chose ice cream as their snack and created their own ice cream maker out of Lego bricks (see bottom left corner).  The cool thing is that it spins on a motor just like a real one.

Team stops for a group photo, kind of.  In the background is their, "show me" board.

Review time, Josiah helps show the review how the model works.

Expo takes place at OMSI.  So we all get in free.  This was opening day for Art of the Brick. It is a fabulous exhibit by an amazing Lego artist.

In Jr FLL everyone is a winner.  The Lego Chefs receive their medals and take a elbow bump walk.

Enjoying a little sunshine
They say it's going to rain tomorrow, and every day after. I've been enjoying the two days of sunshine, I will miss the sun. But it's Portland so it must rain again.

366 Days of 2012 - Day 63 - March 3

Looking for Alaska

Today I was in a "still in recovery" mode. So I picked up a book that I got at Costco a few weeks back. It had the big gold seal stamped on the cover for an award in young adult lit. So it sounded right up my ally since I love YA lit. Well, the stuff were they swear needlessly, talk about sex constantly, and smoke constantly isn't really right up my ally. I thought about putting it down a couple of times, but I kind of got suckered into the storyline. The first chapter is entitled "one hundred thirty-six days before." It goes on that way "x days before." Which leaves you constantly guessing. Then "the day after," you can't believe it. Then at 180 pages or so you figure out what happened and the characters in the story figure out what happened 30 pages later. Then the author wraps it all up, ties a pretty little bow around it, and leaves you thinking maybe there was a reason it deserved that gold seal afterall. You said you didn't think you'd read another one of his books, but now you're thinking you just might put a hold on one at the library.

RX

It's strep. No wonder I've felt like crud and you've had to look at sucky pictures. :O) This is the first time I've had strep. It hurts!

366 Days of 2012 - Day 61 - March 1

Hair Art

This is an odd one, I know. But women, how many of you do this? You're washing you hair and as you do so, strands end up on your hands, so you plaster them to the wall. This prevents them from going down the drain. So after you are done in the shower, you go to clean up the wall and throw all those lovely hairs (which you wish were still on your head making you hair thicker), and discover hair art. Most days I see things like bird heads and other things I won't talk about here. But today I discovered this. I believe it's a masked bandit posing as a bride complete with veil and weapon disguised as long steamed roses. Hehe!

366 Days of 2012 - Day 60 - Feb 29

Blue and Red

Three cheers for book fairs
Today I dragged my sick self to my son's school for an hour after school. It's book fair week, and I always let the kids pick a book out. Usually, it's not a book mom would have picked. Josiah tends to choose thing about wild animals and Adaya always want some princess garbage.

So here is my son in his super styling new 3D glasses. If you look at is eyes you can see that camera action has pulled his eyes off the page and onto me. He's about to lay a heavy threat on me about not taking more photos or showing the ones I took to anyone.

366 Days of 2012 - Day 59 - Feb 28

Serious Play

It's Tuesday and the kids on the Jr First Lego League team I coach are finishing up their project. We did a little serious play activity today. This is my favorite little model that one of the kids made.

366 Days of 2012 - Day 58 - Feb 27

Snow Dusting

We got a really, really light dusting of snow last night. Then we got frost. So we had all these frosty snow flakes this morning. I decided to make a couple silly pictures for MixedMessagesMonday. This is an edited copy of the second in the series. I used layers and textures to get this look. In the corner is actually a macro image of the least frosted, best looking snow flake I captured. I would be nice to get some real snow, but I don't think that's actually in Portland's forcast for this winter.

366 Days of 2012 - Day 57 - Feb 26

Spring's Blooming

The first flowers of spring are poking through the ground.

I Took a couple texture shots when we went out to lunch today. Then added them to a few layers of this flower that I captured this afternoon. To create for you this lovely image, of the hope that spring is on its way.

366 Days of 2012 - Day 56 - Feb 24

Sick, Book, Chair, Tea

This is me. This is how I spent most of my day. Today is not a pretty day. Tea gets me through these head colds my children bring home from school. SOOC because I'm either too sick or too lazy to care.

366 Days of 2012 - Day 55 - Feb 24

Ice Cream Dreams

"When I grow up, I want to be an ice cream maker."
She doesn't actually play Blokus, she makes pictures with it. Oh to be a four year old. Also this is exactly how beautiful she is. All I did to this photo is crop out the floor and oven. The light in my kitchen this morning was perfect.
