art party
This morning we had over three of Josiah's classmates, a classmate sibling, and two mothers over for the first of four Monday morning Art Parties of the summer. Yes, it is summer. No, it was not nice enough to paint on the deck this morning. That was the plan, but it rained yesterday. The deck was wet and it was a bit too chilly out. So we painted at the table. I did not take any pictures, how lame is that. We had a great time. After the kids were done painting, the moms even spent some time getting artistic.
In three weeks we will be building with miniture bricks and mortar. They are left over from when I designed a model for my first Grace Academy design, about three and a half years ago. We will probably pull out some other craft options as well. From the sounds of it, we will have a completely different crowd joining us. If you are free, join us. July 12, 9:30-11:30

I'll teach Stephen for giving me crap about not posting...
Summer reading and writing
Today, on the first day of summer vacation, Josiah was overly eager to do his summer homework. I thought it was a bit odd for the first day of summer. I wonder how long it will last.
We made a deal. For every 5 minutes that he reads aloud to me, I will read one chapter to him. He read twice today for 15 minutes each, reading two whole books. I got to read 6 chapters. I cheated, they are short chapters and only took me 20 minutes total.
He also wrote today. He drew a picture of himself, Wes, and Adaya at a reptile zoo. He wrote 4 sentences about it. Then declared himself done. Then he went on to tell me this amazing tale. I suggested he write that down too. He didn't want to. So I wrote it down for him. The story ended with Josiah and Wes flying to Africa...
Something tells me he misses Ashby.
